Legendary DePaul coach Joey Meyer, who led Blue Demons to 7 NCAA Tournament appearances, dies at 74

Joey Meyer, the former DePaul men’s basketball coach who took over the program from his legendary father Ray Meyer, died Friday in suburban Hinsdale, Ill., at the age of 74.
A DePaul spokesperson said his family asked that his cause of death remain private. In a statement, the school said details about a public service will be announced at a later time.
Born on April 2, 1949, Joseph E. Meyer played for his father at DePaul and then served as his father’s replacement as coach of the Blue Demons from 1984 through 1997. The younger Meyer’s record at the school was 231-158 and he…
