FA chief ‘recognises hurt’ over not lighting Wembley arch in Israel colours: ‘One of hardest decisions’

English FA chief Mark Bullingham has acknowledged that not lighting up Wembley’s arch in the colours of the Israeli flag earlier this month “caused hurt in the Jewish community” and said the decision was “one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make”.
The FA chose not to illuminate the arch ahead of England’s friendly game against Australia in response to the Israel-Gaza war, instead holding a period of silence to respect “the innocent victims of the devastating events in Israel and Palestine”.
