Sheffield United defender Chris Basham taken to hospital with ‘horrific’ leg injury

Chris Basham has been taken to hospital after suffering what Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom called a “horrific” injury to his lower leg.
The 35-year-old was forced off in the 35th minute during the Premier League game against Fulham at Craven Cottage after sustaining the injury while crossing the ball. He received lengthy treatment on the pitch by medical staff from both teams, in addition to paramedics, before being taken off on a stretcher to an ambulance.
There were 14 minutes of added time at the end of the first half.
